What makes it a Hippy Safari?
We Set out to redefine African travel, where every journey actively regenerates the land, empowers communities and transforms the traveler, setting the global standard for conscious exploration.
"Authentically & Unapologetically African."
My story so far is somewhat unique, it spans the professional sports world with a sprinkling of numerous stints in the hospitality world.
Having graduated with a B.Sc. in International Hospitality Management from the University of Plymouth, I had free reign to follow my passion and childhood dream to play professional sports.
Before I made it onto the professional paddock, a phase of intentional building was on the books. In Kenya after my Degree, I patiently began my journey to climb the national sports ladder, which was great as I found myself working in the travel industry. During the day I was a travel agent in a bespoke agency in the capital Nairobi, while evenings, weekends and sometimes even nights were spent training and playing international test matches. I honed meticulous skills during this period from basic cognition of the industry and all the moving pieces involved to recruiting, catering and managing clients.
Having played at a Semi-professional level in England, and now moving up the rugby ranks in Kenya, I was offered an opportunity to sign my first professional contract in Europe. Upon signing the contract I had a bitter-sweet moment as I was leaving the travel industry that I was passionate about, but elated with the opportunity to chase one of my childhood dreams.
Throughout my professional career I travelled the world, and rose to a pinnacle moment, captaining the Kenyan national team. I am forever grateful for my time in sports and the 25 National Kenya caps i earned. It nurtured within me the leadership qualities that lead to the establishment of Hippy Safaris.
Along with our goals, the movement we have nurtured here at Hippy safaris is simple. The Assurance that travel to East Africa contributes to conservation, uplifts local voices and offers fair compensation to all the local people of the land we benefit from. This help you as a traveler draw a deep sense of meaning and gratitude in your trip.
